Con una inversión inicial de más de 15 mil millones de pesos, la Agencia Nacional de Minería le da un nuevo impulso a la atención de incidentes mineros en el país, con la puesta en marcha de una estrategia para fortalecer la cultura de la prevención que permita reducir el índice de fatalidad minera y darle más herramientas a la red de atención.<br />
La autoridad minera busca reforzar el uso de tecnologías y dotaciones y trabajar más en el campo de la prevención y la capacitación para implementar mejores prácticas en la actividad minera, dentro de los estándares internacionales.<br />
Es así como la entidad incorpora una nueva Estación de Seguridad y Salvamento Minero a las cinco existentes que operan en zonas mineras del país. Esta sexta sede estará ubicada en Marmato – Caldas, sumándose a la red de atención conformada por Amagá en Antioquia, Cúcuta en Norte de Santander, Jamundí en el Valle del Cauca, Nobsa en Boyacá y Ubaté en Cundinamarca.<br />
Esta red cuenta además con el apoyo de tres puntos ubicados en Bucaramanga, Pasto y recientemente Remedios, en el Nordeste antioqueño. Igualmente, el equipo humano de atención para dar una respuesta oportuna a los incidentes mineros, también será reforzado al duplicarse pasando de 20 profesionales a 45, cuyas competencias y destrezas permitirán avanzar de manera significativa en el rumbo establecido por la Agencia Nacional de Minería.<br />
“<em>La estrategia busca mejorar la gestión en la atención de emergencias mineras, aumentar la capacitación y formación, hacer seguimiento y control en seguridad minera e implementar un sistema público de información en seguridad minera y comunicaciones</em>” afirmó la Gerente de Seguridad y Salvamento Minero de la ANM, Gloria Catalina Gheorghe.<br />
Durante 2012 en el país se presentaron 89 emergencias mineras (reportadas a la ANM) que dejaron 101 pérdidas humanas; en el transcurso de 2013 van nueve emergencias y 11 fallecimientos. La mayor accidentalidad se presenta en el departamento de Boyacá seguido por Cundinamarca y Antioquia.<br />
En 2012 el 37% de las causas registradas obedecieron a derrumbes, seguido en un 14,5% por la inhalación de gases. Mientras que explosiones de metano representaron un 14,5%. “<em>Es necesario emprender un trabajo articulado con los empresarios, trabajadores mineros y personal asociado a la actividad minera, para emprender acciones de prevención que permitan contrarrestar la situación actual</em>” enfatizó la funcionaria.<br />
